On the night of February 4 th 1999, he was shot at by four policemen in plain clothes in NewYork. The officers were Sean Carroll, Richard Murphy, Edward McMellon and Kenneth Boss. The police officers mistook Diallo to be a rape suspect from a year before. They emptied forty one rounds which nineteen hit him outside his apartment at 1157 Wheeler Avenue in the Soundview section of The Bronx.
