DADIYATA “JUSTICE DELAYED, JUSTICE DENIED”

In the heart of Northern Nigeria, a region grappling with bad governance, poverty and blatant disregard for human rights. a story unfolds that affects our  collective conscience. Abubakar Idris, popularly known as DADIYATA, a vocal social media influencer, critic, activist and ardent supporter of former presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, vanished into thin air on August 2, 2019. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were shrouded in mystery, leaving behind unanswered questions and a nation consumed by uncertainty

Dadiyata was born in Kano Nigeria to Malam Danjuma Yero and Malama Fatima yero, he grew up to become a lecturer in the Department of English and Linguistics at Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State

For six long years, Dadiyata's family and supporters were left in the dark, their hopes and fears drifting between the possibility of his return and the dread of the unknown. His mother, who passed away in 2022, spent her final days seeking justice for her son, a poignant reminder of the pain and suffering that Dadiyata's disappearance inflicted upon his loved ones. His father, Malam Danjuma Yero, has been actively seeking justice for his son's disappearance. After Dadiyata's abduction in August 2019, his father consistently expressed his pain and frustration, resorting to prayers and pleas for help from the government and the public.  Dadiyata's disappearance has had a profound impact on his family, supporters, and the wider community. The lack of transparency and accountability has fueled speculation and mistrust, highlighting the need for a thorough investigation and justice.

In a significant development, investigative Journalist Damilola Adekunle launched a ₦10 million investigation fund to uncover the truth behind Dadiyata's disappearance. After months of tireless effort, Adekunle confirmed the unthinkable: Dadiyata was dead, a victim of a brutal killing that left many questioning the government's role in his disappearance.

The confirmation of Dadiyata's death highlights the need for a thorough investigation into his disappearance and killing. The government must take concrete steps to uncover the truth, bringing perpetrators to justice and providing closure to Dadiyata's family. Failure to do so will perpetuate a culture of impunity, undermining trust between citizens and the government.

The case of Dadiyata also raises questions about the responsibility of leaders to protect their followers. Some supporters of Rabiu Kwankwaso feel that the former presidential candidate did not do enough to help Dadiyata, leading to feelings of abandonment and betrayal.

As I reflect on Dadiyata's life and legacy, i’m left with more questions than answers. The government must take responsibility for ensuring that justice is served, and the perpetrators are brought to book. The story of Dadiyata serves as a reminder of the need for a government that respects human rights and ensures accountability for its actions. His legacy lives on as a beacon of hope for a better future, and it's our collective responsibility to ensure that his story is not forgotten. . He is survived by a wife Khadijah Ahmad Lame and two children Hanifa who was 7  and Fatima. Who was 8 months old  at the time of his disappearance.

These questions remain unanswered;

1. Who abducted and killed Dadiyata?

2. Why was Dadiyata abducted and killed?

3. What crime did he commit?

I pray and hope they finally get the closure they deserve and I hope and pray those guilty are brought to justice.
